GETTING STARTED IN BEGINNER BAND

1.     Pick an instrument: You will need to take your child to Roberson’s Music in Fredericksburg, VA to do an instrument preview.

2.    Rent the instrument decided upon at the preview.

3.    Purchase the “Traditions of Excellence” Book 1 for their instrument.

4.    Get familiar with Mrs. Conner’s website so you will always be up to date with band information.

5.    Sign up to receive Text Message reminders.

BEGINNER BAND INSTRUMENT PREVIEWS

I am offering two Beginner Band Instrument Previews at the King George High School Band Hall.

Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.

Monday, August 17, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.

If you are not able to attend one of these instrument previews you will need to take your child to Robersons Music (or and equivalent music store) to do a preview/instrument test.

After the instrument selection you will need to rent the instrument selected and purchase the following items:


ALL INSTRUMENTS:  "TRADITIONS OF EXCELLENCE" Book 1 for the instrument selected.                      

I also recommend a wire stand for practicing at home.



Flute:  Cleaning/Care Kit

Clarinet:  Cleaning/Care Kit and three #2 reeds

Saxophone:  Cleaning/Care Kit and three #2 reeds

Trumpet:  Cleaning/Care Kit

Trombone:  Cleaning/Care Kit

Bell Kit:  It should come with mallets and snare sticks, if not you will need to purchase one set of each.

BEGINNER BAND SIGN UP

All 5th and 6th Grade Students can sign up for Beginner Band at King George Elementary, Potomac Elementary or Sealston Elementary.
