Opportunities in the Arts

Next week you will have several opportunities to see the Arts in action.  The King George Middle School Band will have their Fall Concert on Thursday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m. at the King George Middle School Auditorium.  This is a wonderful opportunity for you to hear students that have been playing for a couple of years and it is free.  Also next week you can see the King George High School Theater Department in action with their play "Almost Maine."  This will run from Wednesday, October 31 - Saturday, November 3 at 7:00 p.m. each night. The cost is $8 per person.  Dinner is available at 5:30 for between $6 and $8.  The last regular season Football game will be next Friday, November 2 at 7:00 p.m.  The Royal Regiment Marching Band will present their show "Maya" during halftime.  Make sure to come out and see how much they have added to the show since the first game.  They will be marching at their State Assessment Competition tomorrow, October 27 at Massaponax High School at 1:30 p.m.

Your children should be practicing the new sheet music they received last week.  We will be playing these songs on our Winter Concerts.  Please check the "Upcoming Elementary Band Events" page for the specific date for your child's school concert.

Fall is in the Air!!

This has been a productive week of learning.  All of the students are making progress on their instruments.  Thanks so much for supporting your child as they practice their instruments.  All Beginners should be memorizing the notes from the pages they have been assigned.  If they have forgotten which pages to practice you can click on the Practice Schedule page for a reminder.

I hope you all will be able to attend the King George Fall Festival this weekend.  Here is a link to the Schedule of Events for the weekend.

We keep blowing and blowing........

I hope you are hearing a lot of blowing going on at your house.  The students are making great progress on their instruments.  As the new begins to wear off please encourage your student to continue to practice 5 days a week for at least 15 minutes each of these days.  Bell players should set up their bells and leave them up until the night before their lesson.  That way they can practice a little every time they pass by them.  If you have not been hearing anything just remind your child that practice will make band time more fun.  Have your child play the pages they are practicing for the up-coming lesson for you sometime during the week.  Each student should be recording the practice pages on the practice log.  I have added a page with the Practice schedule that I will update each week.

Thanks so much for supporting your child in their musical endeavor.  Please feel free to contact me via email anytime you have a question or concern.

Thanks,

Mrs. Conner
