BEGINNER BAND SIGN UP INFO
5th and 6th Grade Students at King George Elementary, Potomac Elementary and Sealston Elementary can sign up for Beginner Band through September 2017.
Here is a link to the Beginner Band Sign Up Form.
Go to either KBI Music or Roberson's Music in Fredericksburg, Virginia (or an equivalent music store) to try out flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, baritone, trombone and bells. After the music store representative helps you pick the correct instrument for your child rent an instrument and purchase the "Traditions of Excellence" Book 1 for the instrument they will be renting.
Please do not purchase instruments over the internet or from an individual before coming to an Instrument Preview Event for the following reasons.
1. Many instruments on line are very cheap/poorly made and do not play well or last long. I will let you know which instrument brands are reputable at the Preview.
2. Some kids have their heart set on a certain instrument, but when they come to the preview they either can’t get a sound on that instrument or they actually like another instrument better.

County Wide Concert Tuesday, May 9, 2017
The King George Countywide Band Concert will be on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Please make sure to get this on your calendar
now so that your child will be able to participate.
The afternoon of the Concert students will ride a bus to King George High School after school to put together
the combined band piece before the 6:00 p.m. concert. Students will need to bring a bag dinner with
them to eat before the concert. A
permission slip will be coming home in the next couple of weeks.
All students will
need to BRING (NOT WEAR) their band shirt with solid black pants and solid
black shoes. We will change into the uniform after eating. This is a long concert so please plan
accordingly. Students will need to stay
for the entire concert because we will be performing a combined piece with all
students from 5th – 12th grades at the end of the
concert.
I have scheduled one extra rehearsal for the 2nd
year band and 2 extra rehearsals for the Beginner band. Your child should attend if at all possible
because these will be the only opportunities we have to put all 3 school
together before the concert.
